Leading by Example

Madison Kennedy, a TROY graduate student in environmental and biological science, has not only made a name for herself through her research at TROY, but also one for her late brother, Zachary. During her thesis research, Kennedy found more specimens of a new type of mud dragon making it possible to name the species zacharyi in memory of her brother, who passed away from Ewing sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer when Kennedy started her first semester of graduate school.
“I want to continue talking about him so what better way to keep his memory alive than naming something that will go far beyond our lives.”
TROY empowers students to dive deeper into research with state-of-the-art equipment and laboratories. Kennedy is changing the world. How can we help you make a difference?
